''I want to UpSkill… but I don’t have time''
Meet Rick.

A year ago, Rick was, in his words, ‘’plotting along’’ in his life and in his career. Rick was a 25 year old Recruitment Consultant, who worked 9-6pm, plays 5 aside twice a week and enjoys his weekends to the fullest.
Rick wanted to learn
Rick has a Bachelors Degree but feels he hasn’t applied much of that learnings, in a commercial sense.
He was seeking learning and ideally University accredited learning. He found the training being offered to him in his role as Recruitment Consutant, was limited. He therefore sought out online bootcamp style training on Udemy and Coursera but found the content to ‘’airy fairy’’ and not Industry lead. Rick found himself seeking out more and more professional development podcasts.
Rick wanted a new job
Rick saw himself as a Salesman, and not HR personnel. It irked him that he was not viewed as a salesman, despite the role of recruitment consultant being just that. This was holding him back as, without formal sales training, would-be hiring companies did not see him as a fit for their sales roles.
He wanted to become a more employable, ‘’job ready’’ sales person. For him, he wanted to work in Tech Sales.
Rick was and is an active, social guy. Work /Life balance is important to him. Upon speaking with the UpSkill team, he realized he could complete his studies 1 night per week and on occasion, complete project work during his commute. He enjoyed the feeling of autonomy. He felt he would enjoy the sense of freedom to complete coursework according to his schedule (flexibility) and location (remote learning). However, he felt he would work best when there are Education Advisors on hand, to assist with queries and encourage him with upcoming deadlines. As such, UpSkill offered him flexible, remote learning but with accountability features, helping him to meet the deadlines.
Rick now works for Facebook as a Corporate Account Executive.
