Stuck in a Rut? 5 ways to refresh your Sales career

Feeling fed up, burned out, under motivated? Do the hours of 9am-5pm excite or bore you?
You may have really liked your role when you joined, felt engaged and had a clear focus. With time however, those joyous feelings can often be replaced with a flat feeling or a sense of disinterest. If this sounds like you, or someone you know, fear not… you have options!
Learning a new skill
One of the reasons you were hired in the first place may be that you are ambitious and have a thirst for learning. If you feel you are not learning enough new knowledge / skills, in the areas you want, you must take action. In this day and age, many employers will work with you in this regard.
Take a break
We all need a break sometimes. If you are in a demanding yet unfulfilling role, you will likely qualify.
If you have the financial means and/or a lust for travel, a career break can help with re-centering and helping you to refocus on what direction you want your life to take.
Start a Side Business
Maybe its time to develop that app you’ve been thinking about, create an eBay store or even set up a stall at a car boot sale. Whatever your potential side hustle may be, indulge yourself. It may just reinvigorate you, allow you to sell in different ways, and make some extra dosh!
Recruit a Mentor
Think LinkedIn connections, facebook friends, former colleagues… A well suited mentor can really help provide clear direction. The cost to you may be the price of a coffee or a pint.
Retrain
Change scares us but those that are able to adapt and change for good are those who will reap the most reward from life.
The “job for life” days are well and truly behind us now and most people will refresh their professional lives several times over, during the course of their careers. Think, the recruitment consultant, who moves into an Account Exec role in Tech Sales.
